AI Disclosure

StudySocial does not use AI. Nothing you put in the app is sent to an AI provider. This page explains what is automated and how.

Version 2026-09-11Effective September 11, 2026Updated September 17, 2026Pending legal review

This document was written by the people who make StudySocial and is waiting for a lawyer's review. It describes how the app really works today; the boxes marked For legal review are open questions, not rules.

1.The short version

StudySocial has no AI features today. It does not use large language models, does not generate text or suggestions with a model, and does not send any of your information to an AI provider. Everything that looks automatic is a simple, fixed rule you could work out on paper.

2.What is automated

A few features do some sorting or fitting for you. None of them use AI, and none of them send your data anywhere. Each one runs either on our own server or in your browser, using only the information you already put into the app:

  • “What to work on” ordering. Your work list is ordered by due date, priority and the time estimate you entered. That is the whole rule.
  • “Plan for the rest of today.” StudySocial looks at the free gaps in your schedule for the rest of the day and slots your open work into them, using the same due date, priority and estimate. It is arithmetic, not a model.
  • Sorting a sync into classes and course parts. When your school sends a calendar, StudySocial decides whether an entry is work with a deadline or a part of the course (a module, unit or week) by looking at how the title is written — nothing more. When it cannot tell, it treats the entry as work and leaves the decision to you.
  • Schedule from an image. When you import a timetable from a picture, the text is recognised on your own device using an engine (tesseract.js) that your browser downloads from the jsDelivr CDN. The image itself is never uploaded to StudySocial or to the CDN.

3.What we do not do

  • No chat assistant or AI tutor.
  • No model training on your assignments, notes, files, schedule or messages.
  • No data shared with AI companies, for any purpose.
  • No AI-generated summaries, grades, feedback or recommendations.
  • No AI running in the background on your schedule, friends or files.

This is not a promise buried in fine print. It is simply how the app is built today, and it is verified against the code that runs the service.

4.If this ever changes

If StudySocial ever adds a feature that uses AI, this page and the Privacy Policy would be updated first. A new version would be published, and you would be asked before any of your information is sent to an AI provider. You would not find out after the fact.

5.Rely on your school, not the app

Even simple rules can be wrong. A due date you typed with a typo, an estimate that was too hopeful, or a feed that lagged will all produce a plan that looks confident and is not. Treat StudySocial’s ordering and daily plan as a suggestion. Verify important dates, instructions and requirements with your school, your syllabus, or your instructor.
